Permits for building inside the limits of Maxeys are obtained by first submitting plans for the new building or remodel to City Hall.
New structures require a printed plat, and a to-scale drawing of the structure, showing dimensions and setbacks, along with a detailed description of building materials such as siding and roofing. Any existing structures should also be shown, with their dimensions.
These plans must then be approved by the city, at which time a permit authorization letter will be issued to Oglethorpe County Building and Zoning. Permits may then be pulled from the county, who is solely responsible for construction inspections. Property markers like pins or flags should be readily visible on the site for inspection of setbacks by the city.
Please consult the city regarding application fees.
